About

I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Education University of Hong Kong. I earned a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics at Northern Arizona University in the United States in 2024. My dissertation research focused on supporting intercultural communication in English through a pedagogical intervention based on English as a lingua franca communication strategies. I conducted the research at Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, supported by a Fulbright Study/Research Grant. I also hold an MA TESOL from SIT Graduate Institute.

My research interests include English as a lingua franca (ELF), ELF-informed instruction / teaching English as an international language (TEIL), L2 English pragmatics instruction, the roles of identity and language ideologies in language teaching and learning, and corpus pragmatics. I have over 15 years of teaching experience in the U.S., China, and Malaysia, including linguistics, TESOL teacher training, academic writing, and English language.
